Unicorns are real

This weekend was a magical one. We went to our favorite coffee shop, had brunch at Scramble and explored the farmers market. I managed not to bring home a plant but it was tough! There was a beautiful succulent garden in a giant clay teacup that I was swooning over.  We went by the nursery and picked up some organic fertilizer for our vegetable garden and I got to work nourishing them right away. While out and about we stumbled on some awesome window decals that are yet another reason I am falling in love with Roanoke. A unicorn AND a stag ?!?! Pretty much my two favorite animals ever. My spirit animal is either a deer or a unicorn, maybe a unicorn deer. I'm pretty sure that's it.

Weekend Warrior

Since moving to Roanoke in early May things have been a bit of an adjustment.  It's a new place with a lot to offer and I am so excited about embracing The Star City as my home. We have already become members of the local co-op and found a great coffee house. I am sure many more photos featuring this awesome location and coffee are to follow.  Every Saturday the Center in the Square is transformed into a bustling marketplace. There are local artists and soap makers selling their goodies, farm stands filled with fresh local produce and plants. I always want a new plant but our house is filling up with them and I have no furniture to set them on. Alas I have to fight the urge to adopt all the little plants that catch my eye. This weekend I am trying to be a little more casual and put the sheer lace and heels aside and stride around in effortlessly cool outfits and comfortable sandals that will not hurt my feet as I explore all the vendors today. Cheers to the weekend folks!

It goes with out saying that Free People makes up the majority of my wardrobe. This shirt being one of my all time favorites. The We The Free blank canvas tunic is perfection. It allows me to feature whatever strappy bra I feel like rocking that day and it has weapons on it. The buffalo nickel hat by Minnetonka is a beautiful and well crafted hat. I have a small head so I love that they make a size small. The necklace is a blend of chain and leather with three quarts crystals by JAKIMAC.  It's edgy but the crystals have a softness to them that makes the necklace less aggressive. My ponytail holders came from a lovely Native American woman named Snow Eagle I met at a Mattaponi Powwow.   Love love love!

Fall Fun with Free People

I am so happy with how these photos from the Free People Me shoot came out! The team that put the event together did such a great job. Free People is one of those brands that creates the beauty they embody. Check out the full blog post here! They did not get to spend as much time in Richmond as they would have liked but there is always next time! I bonded with the pieces I wore that day, I had to get that Reign Over Me Lace Dress and Exaggerated Fringe Collar! They gave me the Bangkok Tee. It is so comfortable and versatile. The Extended Brim Clipperton hat was perfect for keeping the sun out of my eyes. The Braided Harness Belt was the cutest little added touch for both the dress and the Bangkok Tee. The Suede Fringe Collar was super cute and looked great over a relaxed Tee. Alexis looked super cute in her overalls; It was the perfect outfit for horseback riding. Sunflowers and Sunshine

When I got an e-mail asking me to take part in a Free People Me photo shoot I was so excited. I couldn't believe my favorite clothing company had noticed me. I have been singing their praises and rocking their clothes for years! What a magical day it was! We started the day running around the store styling outfits and then we took a bus to Graves Mountain Lodge. It's a beautiful 2,500 acre property with horse trails, apple orchards and so much more! It's tucked into the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Syria, Va. Free people did not disappoint. They were so nice, planned a picnic and packed snacks. It was a pleasure to finally meet some of the people working behind the scenes to make Free People the amazing brand it is. The day looked like this: An incredible and beautiful group of girls came together and went horseback riding and apple picking. We played in a pumpkin patch and had a blast! What could be better than a gorgeous fun-filled day with beautiful clothes and girls!? Thank you so much Free People!

*I highly suggest you make you own Free People Me account if you don't have one already. It's a great way to see how your favorite clothes are styled! Find my fpme account here!*
